INSCRIPTION

INTERPRETATIVE TRANSCRIPTION

Cicria Eutychidi. Cicrius Heracleon, coniugi dulcissimae.

TRANSLATION

To Cicria Eutychis. Cicrius Heracleon, to his sweetest wife.

COMMENTARY

The sarcophagus of Cicria Eutychis was commissioned by her husband Cicrius Heracleon. Unlike the burial of Eutychiana, here the parents do not join the husband as dedicators.

It is possible that Cicria Eutychis, unlike her sister, died after her parents, which would explain their absence from the inscription.
